Timber & Other Products - Sheet Materials - General
Sheet materials are manufactured from solid timber and /or from recycled timber with the addition of an adhesive.
The most commonly used sheet materials are plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), particleboard (chipboard), and fibreboard (MDF – medium density fibreboard). These materials are widely used in construction, with different grades for different uses. Using the correct product for the job is essential.
To comply with Building Regulations it is essential to choose the right type of timber or timber product for a particular end use.
For structural applications the correct structural grades of sheet material must be used, however non structural characteristics may also need to be taken into account such as appearance, moisture resistance and fire resistance. In domestic situations the critical areas are usually in roofs, walls, and floors.
Building Regulations require that all timber sheet materials must comply with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).
Our large array of sheet materials comprises medium-density fibreboard (MDF) mouldings, oriented strand board (OSB) sheets, and plywood, chipboard and plasterboard sheets. We stock top-of-the-range sheet materials and mouldings to match, which come in a collection of forms and styles and are customisable to a project’s specifications.
